Yesterday, I spent 8 hours driving from Austin to Marfa for Artblocks festival. (For those who aren’t familiar, Google the city. It’s super cool!)
This gave me plenty of time to catch up on the biggest AI news to close out the week. Let’s dive into it!

Windows enthusiasts are in for a treat next week...
On September 26, Windows 11 will be getting quite the update, featuring the AI-enhanced Copilot and a refreshed Paint app among others.
Not a fan of AI companions? No sweat! Microsoft ensures a suite of aesthetic and functional upgrades. One example is Ink Anywhere, a treat for the stylus aficionados that converts your handwriting to text seamlessly.
Craving artistic photo backgrounds? Consider it done. But, a note of patience – a few more advanced features for Paint are slated for a subsequent release.
And for any worrywarts regarding the new Copilot, fret not. Microsoft is doing its best to quell any fears of over-reliance on this handy tool.

Another day, another major brand announcing AI-additives (the good kind, of course).
YouTube just revealed a slew of tools that they're integrating into their platform. Much of the news was announced at their “Made on YouTube” event.
A major one is called Dream Screen, which can be used for cooking up AI-generated backgrounds from various prompts.
Not to mention, they're adding a whole new dubbing feature, which is perfect for bringing international audiences in. And let’s not forget about YouTube Create, an editing app that’s looking to compete with TikTok.
And with Google pouring into generative AI, it looks like this is all just an appetizer!

💰AI Fundraising Wrap Up
Hidden Layer: This security-centric startup announced their recent $50 million fundraising round. It was led by both M12 and Moore Strategic Ventures and included contributions from notable participants such as Booz Allen Hamilton, IBM, Capital One, and TenEleven.
HiddenLayer specializes in protecting AI systems from adversarial attacks. By focusing on this niche, the startup aims to enhance the reliability and safety of AI systems.Pyron: Pyron successfully raised $100 million, which was spearheaded by the US Innovative Technology Fund under the leadership of Thomas Tull. According to TechCrunch, this brings the startup’s total value to somewhere between $500 million and $750 million (post-money, of course).
The startup aims to help organizations make sense of their stored information and data by using AI to analyze and generate insights, which can be valuable for decision-making and various business processes.LevelPath: This SaaS-startup saw a successful $30 million Series A funding round, led by Redpoint and joined by Menlo Ventures.
Levelpath was founded by Stan Garber and Alex Yakubovich and is a platform aimed at managing a variety of enterprise procurement services (this includes acquiring goods, services, or works from external sources).
