Today, the UK's CMA (Competition and Market's Authority) woke up and said, "Let's give the world something else AI-related to discuss."

Actually, they warned us back in May that this was coming. And they didn't disappoint!

So, what's the highly-anticipated message?

The competition watchdog highlighted seven golden rules for foundation models (FMs): Accountability, Access, Diversity, Choice, Flexibility, Fair dealing, and Transparency.

Another big focus of is what they're calling "scoping out AI", which is essentially a fancy way of trying to predict AI's effects on society.

The CMA promised more specificity in terms of actual regulations sometimes in 2024.

City planning's got a new BFF: AI.

Researchers at Tsinghua University in China, led by Yu Zheng, made an AI that can design cities better than humans. Think 15-minute cities – where everything's a quick walk or ride away.

They trained their machine for two days. The results? It ended up outperforming human designs by 50% on things like green spaces and traffic.

Sure, it probably can't design the next New York yet, but it's definitely a start!

Like usual, everyone has an opinion. Some designers gave AI's work a thumbs up, while others were on the fence.
