Uber's steering into the AI chatbot lane, folks. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi spilled the beans to Bloomberg, promising a shiny new addition to their tech arsenal.
This ain't their first dance with AI - they've been tangoing with it for years. But don't break out the bubbly just yet - their first quarterly profit just hit the books, even though revenue was playing hide and seek.
Now, the million-dollar question is - will this AI chatbot add value or is Uber just tossing a shiny new gadget into the mix, a la Snapchat's My AI?
Remember, the proof is in the user-experience pudding.

Sam Altman's Worldcoin is snapping eyeball photos worldwide.
Yes, literally.
Thousands are having their irises scanned daily for this digital ID and cryptocurrency scheme.
So what's the big idea here?
Altman & co. say it's to combat fake human identities with biometric proof. After all, identity in the age of AI is a huge challenge that needs solving.
Some people are lining up for free crypto, others are protesting. Despite privacy concerns and black-market activity, over 2.1 million have been scanned.
So is this the identity solution the world's been waiting for? Or the beginning to a 1984-spinoff?

Alibaba's tossing its hat in the open source AI ring with two language models: Qwen-7B and Qwen-7B-Chat. This is being done to directly compete with Meta's Llama 2.
These models pack 7 billion parameters each and are a spinoff of Alibaba's Tongyi Qianwen model. They aim to help SMBs embrace AI.
The company's not handing out its goods for free though - businesses with over 100M active monthly users have to seek licensing.
This is a sign that China's tech giants are cranking up their AI game, trying to keep pace with the U.S. Welcome to the AI arms race.
