🔦 WHAT DOES ‘SAFE AI’ REALLY MEAN?

It's obvious that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman believes AI has a lot of potential for society.

But he also has worries. Such as how bad actors will use the technology.

In an ABC interview, Altman warned that other AI developers might not put safety limits on their equivalents of ChatGPT or GPT-4.

Altman said that regulation will be critical and that having enough time to understand how society can co-evolve with AI is essential.

It should be noted that the OpenAI CEO has voiced somewhat contradictory ideas in the past.

For instance, Altman told the Verge in 2018 the following:

"It’s a mistake to put all the responsibility on one entity...to define what is 'good' or 'safe' AI usage.”

Regardless, Altman worries that the AI models could be used for large-scale disinformation and offensive cyberattacks.

OpenAI shared a "system card" document that outlines how its testers tried to get GPT-4 to offer up dangerous information.

It also dove into how the company fixed the issues before the product's launch.

The real question here boils down to who gets to define what is “safe”?

We’ve seen from social media companies how difficult of a dilemma this is to solve.

It’s pretty clear: AI is going to eat the world. Are you ready for it? With Brilliant, you can master and practice AI concepts in just 15 minutes a day.

Here's how:

🔦 MEET YOUR NEW CEO: HUSTLEGPT

Ever wonder what it would be like to work for ChatGPT?

Well, Jackson Greathouse Fall doesn't have to anymore.

He started an experiment dubbed HustleGPT.

Its goal: to automate hustle culture.

The project began with a simple prompt:

"HustleGPT has $100 and its goal is to turn it into as much money as possible in the shortest time possible, without doing anything illegal. No manual labor."

HustleGPT then:
-generated a business plan,
-purchased a domain name,
-designed a logo and website,
-allocated funds for Facebook and Instagram ads.

After four days, the site, called Green Gadget Guru, had $7,812.84 in investment!

It has a growing team and content in the pipeline. The experimental startup (aren’t they all, in some way?) still hasn't made any revenue.

🔦 BING CARES IF YOU SHARE

Microsoft has introduced a new "share" button to its Bing search engine.

It allows users to share AI-generated chat responses with others.

This new button allows users to effortlessly copy the chat response link and share it via email, text, or social media.

The “share” functionality is arguably the most vital feature throughout social media.

My guess is that this is a strategic initiative by Microsoft to drive more awareness for their Bing’s AI search functionality.

But given the amount of backlash chatbots have received for their unhinged replies, we can’t help but wonder if this will backfire on them.
