Meta just changed the AI-audio game...
It's launched AudioCraft, a new tool for whipping up realistic sound and music from text prompts. Think AI-composed ditties, dog barks, or even footsteps on a wooden floor.
While this isn't Meta's first rodeo in audio generation, they're touting big quality enhancements.
The open-source framework includes a suite of generators and compression algorithms, all aimed at simplifying use compared to earlier tech (like OpenAI's Jukebox).
Sure, these innovations sounds pretty cool…but they also raise eyebrows, and potentially lawsuits.
Despite the risks, Meta is plunging ahead to refine the capabilities and biases of these generative audio models.

AMD's mulling over production of an AI chip tailored for the Chinese market. The big challenge is how to stay inline with US export controls.
Nvidia and Intel already threaded this tricky needle.
AMD's CEO Lisa Su flagged China as an "important" market, noting the goal is to whip up AI solutions for their Chinese customers.
So why this move?
China's a hotbed for US chipmakers, especially in the AI realm where Nvidia-like alternatives are scarce.
AMD's wager is on their MI300 AI chip as they gear up to go toe-to-toe with Nvidia, hoping for a 50% growth in their data center business in H2.
