🔦 GOOGLE AND REPLIT TAKE ON COPILOT
Developers and coders will be some of the biggest beneficiaries of AI.
From fullstack devs to pentesters, developer AI-assistants will be a game changer for them all.
This is why Google is partnering with Replit, a startup specializing in code editing environments.
Their goal?
To compete with Microsoft's/Github’s Copilot, the tech giant's current play in the AI-assisted coding market.
Replit's Ghostwriter is already used by 20 million users.
It will soon integrate Google's LLMs to suggest blocks of code and answer developer questions.
The partnership will help Replit target larger corporate customers.
Replit hopes to improve on Copilot by providing a more in-depth understanding of different software pieces used to write code.
Google plans to partner with other AI coding tools besides Replit in the future.

🔦 INFOSEC GETS AN AI-UPGRADE
Microsoft has created a new AI assistant for cybersecurity professionals called Security Copilot.
Hmm...that sounds a bit familiar, no?
Although a bit confusing, this should not be mistaken for Github's own Copilot.
So what can it do? How about:
Identify security breaches by combing through huge amounts of signals available to InfoSec pros daily
Include a pinboard section for co-workers to collaborate and share information on
Include a prompt book feature for bundling steps or automations into a single button.
Here are a few sources that Security Copilot will draw upon:
Microsoft’s own threat intelligence database
The feedback loop for Security Copilot is also more involved than a "thumbs-up" or "thumbs-down" function. It allows users to respond with exactly what's wrong in order to improve accuracy.
Microsoft is starting to preview Security Copilot with "a few customers". It doesn't have a timeline for general availability yet.
🔦 CHINA STEPS UP ITS AI EFFORTS
The terms "AI" and "national security threat" go hand in hand.
With that in mind, isn't it strange that we haven't heard much from a certain other world power about the emerging sector?
According to South China Morning Post, China is launching a new program called "Artificial Intelligence for Science".
This initiative will focus on major problems in basic disciplines. It will also delve into drug development, gene research, and biology breeding.
China has pledged favorable policies for AI to drive more investment.
Regardless of the West's progress, China certainly isn't out for the count.
The country claims to have an edge through academic papers/patents and is #2 in global AI funding.
One other thing that's making R&D more urgent for China? The US' ramping up of export controls on advanced technologies like semiconductors.
