🔦 OPENAI EYES JAPAN

OpenAI is looking to open an office in Japan. This has come to light since Sam Altman and Prime Minister Kishida met yesterday.

Japan says it's weighing possible benefits and risks of integrating AI within its borders.

As many know, ChatGPT has raised privacy concerns. This has led to other countries like Italy banning the chatbot.

Additionally, the chatbot's current iteration has been known to generate falsehoods.

OpenAI is busy remedying this, and presented measures to Kishida on how they can implement them together.

Japan's Group of Seven Digital Ministers will meet and discuss AI technologies before issuing a "united message of G7".

The meeting is slated for April 29-30.

🔦 CHINA’S ANSWER TO CHATGPT?

A Chinese AI firm called SenseTime has unveiled a suite of new artificial intelligence services.

Chief among these services is...yup, you guessed it: another chatbot.

SenseNova is an LLM that can provide a wide range of AI services for clients.

Specifically, SenseTime CEO Xu Li demonstrated how SenseChat could tell a story and help with writing computer code.

SenseTime also unveiled other AI tools including:

• an image processing tool called Miaohua

• a human movement modeling tool called Ruying.

SenseTime is backed by Alibaba Group. It's working on integrating generative AI into most if not all of its services.

Taking a step back, it's well known that China is attempting to position itself as an AI superpower.

However, there could be some trouble on the horizon.

Concerns are mounting over whether Chinese companies can secure reliable access to high-end chips. This is due to US sanctions and restrictions.

Despite these challenges, investors are hopeful that circumstances can evolve to a point of stability.

🔦 QUORA’S CHATBOT INCEPTION

It's about to get pretty meta in here, y'all...

You can now create your own chatbot via prompts!

Quora has designed a chameleon-like chatbot called Poe. It takes prompts, combines them with existing chatbots, and creates customized ones.

Users can now easily create chatbots that output text within a specific style, or perhaps targets a specific audience.

Quora CEO Adam D'Angelo shared examples of fun bots created with the new feature. These include a "talk like a pirate bot", a Japanese language tutor bot and (our favorite), a RoastMaster bot.

Users can access the bots via the iOS App Store, Google Play store or via any desktop.

Quora plans to cover the costs of operating this feature for now, including the language model fees.

Looking ahead, the company plans to develop an API for hosting bots on servers, operated by users. This could create new business opportunities for many.

Poe has gained popularity with 1.17 million installs and $520,000 in gross revenue. It's currently ranked No. 32 in the Productivity category on the App Store.
