🟩 NETFLIX LAUNCHES AI-ASSISTED GREEN SCREEN
Netflix, king of disruption, is on a warpath, making green screens "smart."
Forget your old-school compositing nightmares, Netflix is using an AI-assisted "Magenta Green Screen" to light up the actors in dazzling, alien magenta.
Sure, it might look like a scene out of a sci-fi movie, but this oddball method streamlines the compositing process. The trade-off?
Restoring the normal color spectrum to our magenta-lit thespians, but nothing a bit of machine learning can't handle!
The trained AI takes the drama out of adding back the missing green channel. It’s a brave, tech-savvy move in the world of filmmaking – proof Netflix isn't afraid to paint Hollywood magenta!
Google is battling to be the king in the world of AI.
As a result, they're handing the reins over to Demis Hassabis.
His task? Merge Google Brain and his startup, DeepMind, into a singular AI powerhouse (drum roll, please): Google DeepMind.
This reorg, though challenging, aims to expedite Google's AI products to market.
Another point of interest: Hassabis dismisses concerns about open-source models surpassing Google, insisting they've got a competitive edge.
In the AI race, Google's going for a strategic reshuffle and a long-game approach.
The US government is slowly but surely moving towards AI regulation.
Today at 3pm, the White House is giving Senators the first-ever classified rundown. This comes courtesy of AI bigwigs like Avril Haines and Kathleen Hicks.
The goal? To understand the U.S. government's AI strategy and see what our rivals are up to.
Chuck Schumer, who's been keen on finalizing AI legislation, is playing host. He's pledged more AI Insight Forums come September.
But Congress is split, making AI legislation a difficult needle to thread.
Meanwhile, AI continues to evolve with no signs of slowing down. CEOs of OpenAI, Microsoft, and Alphabet have all been in touch with Biden on the topic.
