PLUS: GPT-4 is already a game-changer
Welcome back to Big Brain, the largest AI newsletter in the world.
I have to admit that when I saw the number 5 in my Twitter trends I started to panic. Had GPT-4 already built the next version of itself!?
Luckily, it was referring to a different AI tool, Midjourney V5. 😅

🔦 THE MARVELOUS MIDJOURNEY MAGAZINE

Ever heard of Midjourney?
Any artist with an interest in AI has undoubtedly heard of this revolutionary art generator.
For those who haven't, think ChatGPT, except your prompts become art!
Midjourney is pushing boundaries with 2 massive announcements yesterday:
1. They are launching a monthly print magazine, called "Midjourney".
It will feature AI art curated from the “10,000 most highly rated images” as well as interviews with Midjourney community members.
Subscriptions cost $4 per month, with a free first issue available for early sign-ups. These subscriptions will range from free to "Pro" at $60 per month.
2.They have launched Midjourney V5! This update allows for higher image quality, more diverse outputs, wider aspect ratios, better image prompting and more.
Here’s a side by side comparison of V4 vs V5:

Here at Big Brain, we use Midjourney to create most of our cover art. It’s awesome to see our favorite generative art platform continue to crush it!
📢 INSTITUTIONAL INSIGHTS FOR EVERYDAY INVESTORS
Tendies Research was started to remove the barriers preventing individual investors from accessing the research banks and hedge funds use to make decisions.
They’ve built a team of former industry professionals, from Bloomberg, UBS, Morgan Stanley, and others to bring daily insights to your inbox, for free.
Their coverage spans across multiple sectors and categories. Commodity articles cover the latest energy, metals, and agricultural news.
Economics coverage provides weekly market reviews with key macro- and micro-economic market drivers.
Thought provoking Opinion pieces dive deeper into topics few outlets cover, and Special Reports provide distilled, institutional quality equity research to our readers.
🔦 AI STARTUPS SHRUG OFF BANKING CRISIS

Despite the ongoing banking crisis (SVB, Signature, Credit Suisse) the AI industry continues to gain steam.
This may be familiar to us, but think about it:
Global economics is seeing a liquidity crunch and, with it, weakness in the tech sector.
Why is it that AI is an outlier to this trend?
Well it turns out that there is a whole lot of value underlying the industry. (I.e. it’s not all hype)
One example includes Adept, a company that's building centralized AI functions.
This means that it will be able to execute typed queries. In other words, your computer will do as you ask it to without writing code for it.
This will translate to everyday folks essentially "becoming the devs".
If simple development tasks can be executable by AI, then software development could theoretically be commoditized.
After all, why hire a Full Stack Developer when your AI can create an application for your every need in a few minutes?
Companies like Adept are up against powerful incumbents (Microsoft, Apple), but it’s clear that there is A LOT to play for in this space.
🔦 GPT-4: WHAT CAN’T IT DO?
GPT-4 is already turning heads and blowing minds.
@LinusEkenstam recently made a Twitter thread highlighting examples of amazing tools already built on GPT-4…
Looking to become a pong-master? GPT-4 has you covered:
I don’t care that it’s not AGI, GPT-4 is an incredible and transformative technology.
I recreated the game of Pong in under 60 seconds.
It was my first try.Things will never be the same. #gpt4

Looking to sue robocallers? Don’t worry, you’re just a few clicks away.
DoNotPay is working on using GPT-4 to generate "one click lawsuits" to sue robocallers for $1,500. Imagine receiving a call, clicking a button, call is transcribed and 1,000 word lawsuit is generated. GPT-3.5 was not good enough, but GPT-4 handles the job extremely well:
