Hi Everyone! You made it to Friday.
There’s no questioning who dominated AI this week: Google.
This momentum was much needed after their recents struggles, let’s see what else they had to announce at their I/O event.
Today's AI spotlights:
Google wants you to test their AI tools 👩🔬
Meta unveils A.I. tools for advertisers 🧰
Microsoft bets big on AI recycling startup ♻️
📢 Featured AI Tool: Bitskout
5 hours / week / employee is spent on manual data entry. To process each 2000 documents/month you need a full time headcount. And any tool to automate needs developers or a fortune. Enter Bitskout - A.I. powered document and email data extraction tool that works on top of Asana, Zapier, etc.
Start with 40+ templates (invoices, receipts, CVs, court documents, tax forms, etc.) or create your own plugins uploading just a few examples. And add them to your existing tools like monday.com, Zapier or Asana.
👩🔬 GOOGLE WANTS YOU TO TEST THEIR AI TOOLS
Google is in need of guinea pigs for some "AI experiments". And who better than public citizens to do the job?
The search giant has rolled out a new 'Google Labs' page where you can sign up for their AI experiments. Sounds...interesting, right?
But for real, it does will allow people early access to a bunch of tools that Google’s working on. That sounds pretty cool to us.
After all, who wouldn't want to play around with AI-powered Google search? Or how about Tailwind, a project aimed at making note-taking smarter? And we of course can't forget MusicLM, a tool that generates music via text prompts.
Google plans to roll out limited-time experiments as well. These include:
Search enhancements
Code Tips
An "Add to Sheets" feature, which lets you embed search results straight into a Google Sheet
Right now, there are some limitations: participants must be U.S. citizens and older than 18 years old. Experiments will also only be conducting in English.
But don’t worry. After the slew of announcements at I/O, we’re sure Google doesn’t want to waste any time delivering.
🧰 META REVEALS A.I. TOOLS FOR ADVERTISERS
Alright, buckle up folks! Meta's diving deep into AI to jazz up their ad game. They're rolling out new tools and services to help advertisers build better ads and boost campaign results. Let's dig in!
In a New York event, Meta introduced the AI Sandbox, a "testing playground" for advertisers to play with new AI-powered ad tools. It's like a theme park for ad enthusiasts, but with less cotton candy.
This move shows Meta's determination to prove that their massive investments in AI are worthwhile. With slowing ad growth and a pricey metaverse transition, they're putting up $30-33 billion this year to build their AI muscle for ads, Feed, Reels, and more.
So what's in the AI Sandbox? Meta's been working on three tools: text variation, background generation, and image outcropping.
John Hegeman, Meta's VP of monetization, says these tools will save time and boost ad performance. It's all about testing, learning, and finding what works best.
Meta plans to expand AI Sandbox access in July. They're also upgrading Meta Advantage, their ad tool suite, with AI-powered features for better audience reach and dynamic video ads.
Hegeman confirms that Meta's investing "tens of billions of dollars" in AI annually. With more complex models, they're aiming for bigger and better results. So, hold onto your hats, 'cause the generative AI space is about to get wild!
♻️ MICROSOFT BETS BIG ON AI RECYCLING STARTUP
What better way to help the environment than repurpose electronics?
Enter AMP Robotics, a startup making robotic systems to sort recyclable materials. Picture Wall-E on steroids and you've basically got the idea.
Microsoft is all for it. Their Climate Innovation Fund is throwing a bunch of cash at them ($99M to be exact). In total, AMP Robotics has raised around $178 million.
So, what's the big plan?
CEO Matanya Horowitz says they plan to:
Scale operations
Retrofit existing recycling infrastructure
Expand new infrastructure with AI-powered automation
For those thinking, "Well how can a recycling company ever be profitable?", there's actually a lot of money to be made. For example, the industry pumps a whopping $117 billion into the US economy every year.
Horowitz is already eyeing opportunities in Europe and around the globe. Fleet-wide robot deployments and fully automated sorting facilities may also be in AMP Robotics' future.
Sure, AI may get some flack for the energy-intensive resources it requires. But hopefully implementing use cases like these can show others how green this tech can be.
