🧠 AI IS STARTING TO READ MINDS

Specifically, fMRI scans measure and map brain activity via changes in blood oxygenation levels.

LLMs then take this information and match it with words and phrases the subjects previously heard.

This process was successful in paraphrasing spoken content that captured the meaning of subjects' imagined narratives.

Let's pause there: think about how revolutionary this can be for those with speech impairments or paralysis.

📉 THE COMING AI CHIP SHORTAGE

Everyone wants AI these days.

And can you blame them? Companies need to constantly innovate in order to keep their competitive edge.

Enter the need for specialized GPUs, and the fact that these chips are mostly manufactured by Nvidia at a single facility in Taiwan.

Sorry to say, but there looks to be some trouble on the horizon.

So what are the "devs" (AKA the legislative branch) doing to fix this?

The CHIPS Act aims to increase domestic chip production in the US. However, its funding may not be targeted towards GPUs for AI applications.

And this doesn't even cover the challenges brought about by intense global competition for talent and resources.

Still, the allocation of CHIPS Act funding will have effects on where companies decide to set up shop.

Will the initiative work? Or will AI chip production continue to centralize?
