PLUS: Playground AI takes photoshop to the next level
Greetings sentient readers,
We aren't even halfway through the week and we already have some serious nerd drama on our hands.
In the words of Sam Altman: "Can't we all just get along?"

🔦 FACEBOOK AI EXEC THROWS SHADE AT CHATGPT
ChatGPT has received A LOT of positive press lately. But apparently it has at least one hater...
In a recent Zoom call, Facebook AI chief Yann LeCun did not mince words.
He said that "ChatGpt is not particularly innovative," and is simply a sum of other programs wrapped into one package.
LeCun also went on to state that OpenAI was "not particularly advanced compared to other labs."
While this sounds like sour grapes from a competitor, he may have a point.
To be clear: I'm not criticizing OpenAI's work nor their claims.
I'm trying to correct a *perception* by the public & the media who see chatGPT as this incredibly new, innovative, & unique technological breakthrough that is far ahead of everyone else.
It's just not.

LeCun is considered by many to be one of the "godfathers of AI." Over the years he's had a chance to look at the entire AI landscape.
He astutely pointed out that ChatGPT uses Transformer architectures, which is a Google invention.
Despite the push back, Lecun did have a few compliments.
He considers ChatGPT to be "very well engineered," which has led to its wide adoption.
Attendees were left with one final nugget, when LeCun suggested that Meta would soon be rolling out it's own AI features.
While Meta has been eerily quiet in the AI race, I wouldn't count Zuck and company out yet.
After all, many suspect he may be an AI robot himself! 😂
🔦 PLAYGROUND AI TAKES PHOTOSHOP TO THE NEXT LEVEL
With the rise of Instagram, has been an increase in the usage of photoshop.
Most photoshop done today is accomplished by hand. But what if AI could do it for you?
This is the problem Playground AI is attempting to solve with their text-based image editing software.
I had a chance to play with the beta, and discovered some awesome use cases:
1) Add an object to a photo: "Add sunglasses"
2) Change the filter on a photo: "Make photo black & white"
3) Change the person's appearance: "Add a smile"
Playground represents a unique twist on AI art generation tools like Stable Diffusion and Midjourney. These other tools primarily focus on creating images from scratch.
There are also a number of parameters that Playground includes. By tuning them, you can get drastically different results.
Give it a spin for yourself on their website!
