🔦 AI SPOTLIGHT: WEBSITE IN 30 SECONDS

The beauty of the internet is that it's completely open.

Anyone can grab their laptop, buy a domain, and then set up a website. Sounds simple right?

Well, not exactly. Historically, if you didn't have a technical background it was difficult to build a web page.

Then along came no-code website builders like Wix and Squarespace. Over night, the bar for launching an online website dropped significantly.

But what if it could be even easier? As in, you can have a website built for you in 30 seconds easy.

That is the ambitious goal that AI website startup Durable has in mind. They claim that with just 3 clicks, they can generate a business website for you in 30 seconds.

So I put it to the test 👇

Here were a few observations from my test:

• The process was indeed fast. Clocking in at exactly 36 seconds.

• While I was only prompted with 3 questions, I don't think this was nearly enough input to build a relevant website.

• It's not clear that the starter website that durable produced was a major improvement over the placeholder templates that Wix and Squarespace offer (with Lorem ipsum placeholder text).

While the current product isn't quite there yet, I think the idea of AI-generated websites has high potential.

My advice to the team would be to add more prompts at the beginning so that the durable program can generate a more relevant initial website. This could include questions like: business tagline, services offered, etc.

I also expect existing website builders to begin integrating AI solutions of their own to simplify the process.

Some people may argue that this will be disruptive to the website building industry, however, I think it is a net positive.

The less time business owners have to spend on building their websites, the more time they can focus on their core business and delivering value to their customers.
