First, it was deemed as a threat to education itself...but now, AI's becoming a classroom hot topic. Still, Professors like Annette Vee are torn between full-on bans or supervised use.
The main gripe about ChatGPT is its ability aid in cheating. Yet, professors like Don Maue embrace AI, using it to enhance learning. He even holds βSocrates-styleβ chats with ChatGPT during class!
Maue's main goal is to prepare students for an AI-driven workforce. Case in point, colleges like Penn State now offer AI-specific academic policies.
So what's the secret to making AI work in schools? Vee's stance is that clarity's key. In other words, students should know when AI help is encouraged versus when it should be avoided.
