🔦 CHATGPT HITS 100 MILLION USERS

No app has grown as fast as ChatGPT... like ever!

That was the top takeaway from UBS' recent study on ChatGPT.

In January, the app averaged 13 million users per day. ChatGPT also crossed 100 million monthly active users.

Very few apps in history have ever hit this mark, let alone this fast.

For comparison, here's how long it took other apps to reach the 100 million MAU milestone:

• Spotify = 6 years

• Instagram = 2.5 years

• TikTok = 9 months

And leaving all of these projects in the dust was ChatGPT. It accomplished this milestone in its 2nd month. 🤯

The next question is, how will ChatGPT capitalize on this engagement?

Right on cue, OpenAI announced ChatGPT Plus this morning. The plan comes with exclusive benefits for $20/month.

These include: availability during peak hours, faster response times, and priority access to new features.

We'll check back in at 1 billion users. (Which will be before EOY at this rate)

🔦 MICROSOFT RELEASES 'TEAMS PREMIUM' WITH OPENAI

The most powerful partnership in AI is flexing its muscles.

Yesterday, Microsoft announced Teams Premium. (Powered by OpenAI's GPT-3.5)

As part of the upgrade, users will receive the following features:

• Automated meeting transcripts.

• AI generated meeting tasks and notes via Intelligent recap.

• Custom meeting templates, water marking to deter leaks, and advanced meeting protections.

These updates are likely to cause concern for smaller AI startups.

A few of them were working on these exact features.

Will OpenAI's close partnership with Microsoft put these other companies out of business?

It wouldn't be the first time Microsoft exerted their power over smaller startups...
