PLUS: Stable Diffusion creators launch AI video tool

Happy hump day Big Brains,
As some of you probably noticed, today's edition is landing a few hours later than normal.
That's because unlike computers, I occasionally need to sleep in. 😅
Chalk that up as another win for AI!
🔦 Today's AI spotlights:
The new Microsoft Bing is here

🔦 THE NEW MICROSOFT BING IS HERE

Back and forth they go!
A day after Google announced their new Chatbot 'Bard', Microsoft has struck back.
This time it's with a new version of Bing, that's already available to some users. They've also completely revamped their Edge web browser.
Here's an overview of the 5 main features mentioned in their blog post:
Better search: Bing now provides more relevant search results powered by AI. As well as a side bar that gives more comprehensive feedback on queries.
Complete answers: Bing will crawl the web, consolidate info, and provide a single summarized answer.
New chat experience: Users will be able to leverage a new interactive chat within Bing (similar to ChatGPT).
A creative spark: Bing can now help users generate content. It also cites all it's sources which is key!
New Microsoft Edge: The entire browser UX has been revamped. The 2 best features are chat and compose.
Use chat for quick takeaways from lengthy blog posts. And compose for creating content like tweets.
Overall, this was one of the most impressive product demo days I have ever seen out of Microsoft.
They have put both tech giants and scrappy AI startups on alert!
🔦 STABLE DIFFUSION CREATOR LAUNCHES AI VIDEO TOOL
If you think generative images are cool, just wait until you see generative video. 👀
As a reminder, Runway is the team that released latent diffusion (2021) and stable diffusion (2022). Both these models changed the game for generative art.
Now they're seeking to do the same with video. GEN-1 will introduce 5 modes for editing existing videos:
Stylization mode (to stylize videos)
Storyboard mode (to turn mockups into stylized renders)
Mask mode (to change selected areas of the footage — objects, etc)
Render mode (to turn rough renders into finished products)
Customization mode (to allow more fine tuning of videos)
Film has always been a field with a high barrier to entry. But with the rise of smart phones and TikTok, anyone can now be a video creator.
GEN-1 will take this to the next level, by allowing users to make edits on the scale of Hollywood film makers.
Could the next blockbuster film be made in someone's back yard?
