Amazon is injecting $100M into its AWS Generative AI Innovation Center to help clients like Highspot, Twilio, Ryanair and Lonely Planet develop AI products.
The move is a direct challenge to Microsoft's Azure and Google, aimed at boosting AWS cloud services sales.
Despite criticism of Amazon's generative AI tools being 'vague' and 'incomplete,' CEO Adam Selipsky maintains the firm's long-term perspective.
As the generative AI market, fueled by successes like OpenAI’s Dall-E and ChatGPT, is expected to surge to $1.3T by 2032, Amazon is all-in to grab a slice of that pie."
"They'll take our jobs!", screams much of modern-day media about AI...
But, is that actually the case? When it comes to AI-related jobs, definitely not.
In fact, according to Indeed, generative AI job postings in the US surged 20% last month!
The figure is double 2021’s level, signaling AI’s growing prominence.
The top roles tend to be:
Data scientists
Software engineers
Machine learning engineers
Data engineers
Of course, this is despite a 43.6% dip in overall US tech job openings (which can be attributed to a multitude of factors). Many of these cuts are taking place at companies like Meta and Amazon.
The takeaway? If you're looking to ride the AI wave, now's the time.
