🔦 AI STOCKS ARE PUMPING!

$5.2 billion.

That's how much market value was added from AI announcements by last Friday's close.

After Meme stocks and Cryptocurrencies, AI is driving the next wave of market speculation.

And companies are beginning to catch on...

According to Bloomberg, "generative AI" was mentioned in 165 earnings calls in January. This is more than all of 2022 combined!

Among these companies was Buzzfeed, whose stock soared 307% in the 2 days after their AI announcement.

Similarly, C3.ai and NVIDIA's stock prices are up 134% and 47% this year.

The question now is how much of that value is real vs pure speculation.  

We've seen how hype around new technologies has created bubbles in the past. But there's no denying that AI is already driving a ton of efficiencies in the economy already.

I believe AI will be a huge value creator, but keep an eye out for imposters among the ranks of the legit AI companies.*

🔦 THE MICROSOFT VS GOOGLE AI BATTLE HEATS UP

We've talked a lot about Microsoft and Google in our newsletter... And for good reason.

The tech juggernauts have a combined market cap of $3 Trillion and are going ALL IN on AI.

Both companies made some huge moves recently. Here's a recap of where they both stand:

Microsoft

• Invested $10 billion into OpenAI: The partnership is set to accelerate the integration of AI into their product suite.

• Rolled out Teams Premium: The new feature set includes meeting transcriptions and action items, powered by GPT.

• Integrating GPT-4 into Bing: A Twitter user leaked a screen shot of the update. Semafor reports this may come "within weeks" 🤯

Google 

• Invested $300 million into Anthropic: We previously covered how Anthropic had already raised $704 million to take on ChatGPT.

• Releasing AI-powered search features: Google's LaMDA language model is reported extremely powerful. It will be integrated into their search product soon.

• Deep mind shift: On a recent earnings call, CEO Sundar Pichai announced Deep Mind had been moved under Google's core business. It had previously been under 'Other Bets'.

The rate at which these tech titans are investing in AI is staggering. I expect this trend to only accelerate in the coming months.
