💥 AI-GENERATED EXPLOSION PIC IMPACTS MARKETS
AI may be fueling the spread of fake news, y'all. An image depicting an explosion near the Pentagon hit Twitter and the fallout was real — stocks dipped.
Just for a sec though.
Despite the Arlington PD quick to debunk it, the image had already done its rounds. Is AI to blame? The image had some AI-generated quirks, but no confirmation yet.
And guess who amplified it? A Russian state-media Twitter account with a cool 3M followers.
The tweet's gone now, but the damage was done. A bunch of conspiracy theorists jumped on the bandwagon too.
The 'news' dropped at 10:06 AM ET. By 10:10, the market shrank 0.26% but recovered fast. @DeItaone later admitted it was all a hoax.

Apple's thirst for generative AI experts has spiked...
A recent job posting spree indicates Apple is seeking machine learning virtuosi.
These roles touch on everything from computational photography to avatar generation.
The timing of this news is interesting, given that word of Apple banning its employees from using the new iOS ChatGPT app just came out. In classic Apple fashion, they're reportedly building their own rendition of the technology.
Rumor suggests that Apple is in the lab, experimenting with fresh AI concepts. Could this mean a turbocharge for Siri? Many seem to think so.
It's no surprise that Apple is keeping their grand-AI schemes close to the chest. The question is: how successful will they be?

According to Gates, the first to master this technology holds the keys to the kingdom.
Gates pragmatically maintained that it could be a tech giant or a start-up that takes the lead. He voiced a slight preference for Microsoft and showed a notable interest in Inflection.AI.
Still, Gates reminds us that there's a long road ahead before this breakthrough technology becomes mainstream.
In the meantime, we can expect more and more integration of OpenAI’s products.
