🧠 Why the next big influencer won’t be human
Happy Tuesday everyone,
This is the Big Brain, a daily AI newsletter that's here to remind you to always say "please" and "thank you" when writing your prompts.
Just in case... you know...alright never mind.
Let's dive into!
🔦 AI SPOTLIGHT: AI INSTAGRAM INFLUENCER
This model is crushing it on Instagram.
The only problem?
She doesn't exist...
That's right, the woman in the photo above isn't real. It was an image generated by AI.
In fact, there's an entire Instagram profile filled with more pictures of her 👇
So what is going on?
The model in this photo goes by the name of "Ailice" and she's an experiment started by AI startup founder Danny Postma.
Danny uses AI to generate a different photo of Ailice every 15 minutes.
Users can then vote on which photos they want to be shared on her instagram next.
Danny builds AI projects in public, so this is meant to be a fun experiment to showcase his products.
I think it's pretty cool.
However, it does raise some interesting ethical questions in regards to the future of AI image generation...
As AI gets better & better, it will be increasingly difficult to decipher a real person on the internet from a fake one.
This will make cases of catfishing and social engineering much more common.
It's also entirely possible that the next big influencer will be built by AI.
Unlike real models, these AI-generated models will be able to produce 1000x the content & can be perfectly optimized for social media algorithms.
I believe it's only a matter of time until people start creating fake influencers and Only Fans models online. And I think these accounts could eventually outcompete real accounts.
What happens then?
Like many AI use cases, the most important facet here is not the technical capabilities... it's the ethical questions that must be answered.
While these conversations can be uncomfortable, they are important to have.
But we should not stop experimenting in the mean time.
