🔦 IS THIS THE END FOR FASHION MODELS?

AI-generated models are already taking the fashion industry by storm.

Of note, two powerhouses are looking to integrate this functionality:

First up, Levi's will test AI-generated clothing models to diversify its online shopping platform.

Levi's hopes to increase inclusivity by showcasing clothing on models with different body types, ages, sizes, and skin tones.

But despite the promise of AI models, others are concerned about the impact on real fashion models.

How does a human model compete with a practically free alternative?

Levi claims that they'll supplement human models rather than replace them.

But it’s worth noting that Levi's has laid off employees recently. Is this just their area of cost cutting?

Meanwhile, a startup has decided to dive right into the AI-generated model game.

Their name is Deep Agency, and they've centered their business "model" around it!

The platform is currently in the proof-of-concept phase. As a result, models they currently have are a bit glitchy and have limitations.

The launch of Deep Agency has been met with mixed reactions…

Some applaud the technology, while others accuse the founder of pursuing unethical practices.

🔦 THE JOBS THAT AI WILL DOMINATE

It's no secret that the era of AI will automate a variety jobs.

Now, we can look to a study done by OpenAI and the University of Pennsylvania for some projected metrics.

It found that up to 80% of US jobs could be affected by ChatGPT-like AI in the coming years.

The study analyzed 1,016 occupations to see which positions could run smoother when done by AI.

Here were the ones at the top of the list:

  • Personal financial advisors and brokers

  • Insurers

  • Data processors

In the "most exposure" category, it found that the following white-collar jobs came out on top:

  • Mathematicians

  • Accountants

  • Writers

So which jobs have less exposure to this phenomenon? Surprisingly:

  • Graphic designers

  • Marketing strategists

  • Financial managers

Jobs that generally pay less seemed to be safe. This included dishwashers, electricians and barbers.

🔦 WILL AI HELP OR REPLACE MUSICIANS?

AI-generated music is becoming more prominent.

What does this mean for human musicians?

Scientific American‘s Allison Parshall dove into this all-too-pertinent question on their Science, quickly podcast.

She spoke with several musicians to get an idea of how AI may affect their future iterations.

In the past, technological advancements in music (phonographs, synthesizers, etc) caused temporary disruptions.

But ultimately, they led to adaptation in the industry.

AI-generated music is different because it has the potential to replace human musicians entirely.

The use of AI in music composition is not new and has been studied since 2015. Now, algorithms are becoming even more sophisticated.

For example, a new Google model called MusicLM can generate its own music and harmonize with human performers.

Here are two questions to chew on:

  • Can AI generated music be considered "creative"?

  • Should it be protected under copyright law.

Musicians and humanity alike will have to figure them out.

But more importantly, they'll have to find a way to keep traditions alive while innovation pushes forward.
