Greetings and welcome back to Big Brain!
For those that celebrate Easter, we hope the Easter bunny brought you plenty of eggs.
But don’t worry if he didn’t, because we have plenty of AI ‘Easter Eggs’ that we found in the news over the weekend.
🔦 Today's AI spotlights:
US lawmakers get serious on AI
Can AI already read your mind?
AI & DNA shed light on supply chains
🔦 US LAWMAKERS GET SERIOUS ON AI
Since the release of ChatGPT, the entire world has turned its attention to AI.
US lawmakers in Washington are no different.
In particular, they're eager to avoid the same mistakes made while regulating social media.
The "A.I. Dilemma" suggests that AI poses a catastrophic risk to humanity. The video has gained traction with lawmakers, tech luminaries, and critics alike.
Companies behind AI have launched an offensive in Washington to promote ethical AI practices.
Meanwhile, a bipartisan group of lawmakers recently met with top tech executives and venture capitalists. They discussed AI regulation and how it can be implemented properly.
President Biden also held a meeting on the risks and opportunities of AI.
It's safe to say that the US government is on the road to legislating on AI. Whether or not they're effective is yet to be seen.

🔦 CAN AI ALREADY READ YOUR MIND?
The AI doom-and-gloomers have been quite vocal as of late.
But did you ever think they'd have to worry about AI reading their minds?
Researchers at Osaka University have used AI to decode subjects' brain activity.
They used Stable Diffusion to analyze the brain scans of test subjects. These subjects were shown up to 10,000 images while inside an MRI machine.
The AI could then generate high-fidelity images that bore an uncanny resemblance to the originals.
This happened despite it not seeing the pictures in advance or trained in any way to manufacture the results.
The breakthrough doesn’t actually represent mind-reading, as the AI can only produce images a person has viewed.
The development has raised concerns about how such technology could be used in the future.
Privacy issues are one of the most important of them. This is especially true when dealing with government or institutions.
🔦 AI & DNA SHEDS LIGHT ON SUPPLY CHAINS
What does DNA have to do with supply chains?
Apparently, a lot.
Companies are increasingly seeking to ensure ethical production of their goods. Three tools they're look to for help are:
DNA tracking
AI
Blockchains
The complex web of intermediaries used in international supply chains is difficult to trace.
However, solutions such as DNA tracking and digital mapping via blockchains are helping to make it manageable.
DNA tags are becoming a commonly used tool for this endeavor.
So how do they work?
The supplier sprays a fine mist containing billions of molecules into a particular product. Once it reaches its destination, the product can be tested and matched accordingly using AI.
Additionally, blockchains are being used to create digital tokens for every product.
Assuming the blockchain is properly decentralized, this enables companies to reliably trace the origin and authenticity of their goods.
