PLUS: AI flies a jet for 17 hours straight

Hello friends!
Welcome back to Big Brain, the largest daily AI newsletter in the world. Here’s what we’ve got for you all today…
🔦 Today's AI spotlights:
AI porn is on the rise

🔦 AI PORN IS ON THE RISE

Recently, we discussed how AI could pose a threat to OnlyFans creators.
With AI-generated art & video tools, fake models can be created at will.
However, there is an even more concerning trend… Deepfake porn.
According to a Washington Post article, there has been a rise in websites hosting deepfake porn. (This is porn that depicts real people)
And this problem isn’t a small one either. According to research by DeepTrace technologies, over 96% of deepfakes on the internet are pornography.
This trend disproportionately impacts women, with almost all deepfake porn depicting them.
The consquences of this are severe. Streamer QTCinderella recently cried on stream, after learning that deepfake porn of her was circulating.
To make matters worse, she claimed the content was sent to members of her family. 😔
This also comes after Twitch streamer Atrioc issued an apology, after he was caught using one of these sites.
I believe that this should be a top priority for regulators and AI companies moving forward*.
We’ve already seen the negative impact apps like Instagram have had on teenage girls.
The safety of the next generation of women depends on us solving this ASAP.
NOTE: The EU took a step by banning virtual chatbot Replika (which was leaning into NSFW messages).
🔦 AI FLIES JET FOR 17 HOURS STRAIGHT

Once again, Big Brain is ahead of the curve.
A day after we covered Eric Schmidt’s investment in an AI military company, there’s another related story:
Lockheed Martin has revealed that an AI program flew a fighter jet for 17 hours.
Here are some interesting details from the press release:
The flight actually took place back in December. It was the first time that AI flew a tactical aircraft.
The jet used was a VISTA X-62A, which is a modified version of an F-16. VISTA stands for “Variable In-flight Simulation Test Aircraft”.
While this generation still requires pilots to be in the cockpit, it’s rumored that 6th-generation fighter jets will not need pilots. 🤯
The more stories I read about AI military technology, the more I wonder if future wars will be fought entirely by robots.
On the one hand, this could reduce the loss of human life from wars. On the other hand, this tech could be dangerous if it ends up in the wrong hands.
