PLUS: Fiverr embraces AI
Happy hump day y'all.
On a day like today it's important to remember the famous quote from Spiderman's Uncle Ben: With great power, comes great responsibility.
Never forget that when using AI!

🔦 4CHAN USERS CREATE HATE SPEECH WITH DEEP FAKES
We devote a lot of attention to highlighting the positive impacts of AI.
But it's also important to cover negative stories when we see them...
Unfortunately we have a case of AI being used for bad intentions. The tool involved was ElevenLabs, a platform we covered last week.
Here's an overview of what went down:
As a reminder, ElevenLabs converts text to speech. They offer default voices, but also allow users to create their own.
The custom voices are made in their Voice lab. This allows people to clone any voice, including celebrities.
4chan users began to create voice clones for famous individuals. They then made the clones read text that was racist, sexist, etc.
One example included an Emma Watson clone reading excerpts from Mein Kampf. Another user made a Ben Shapiro clone make racist remarks about AOC.
The most concerning example, was a Biden clone saying the U.S. was going to invade Russia.
In response, ElevenLabs tweeted that they were exploring adding additional safeguards.
This is another reminder that we must be thoughtful with how we roll out new AI tools and feature.
🔦 FIVERR EMBRACES AI
"AI, we come in peace."
These were the words tweeted by Fiverr CEO, Micha Kaufman.
He then posted a picture of a full-page ad the company ran in the NY Times.
The letter detailed the company's plans to begin integrating AI into their freelancer platform.
One example is the addition of new AI categories. These include: ChatGPT application developers, Midjourney artists, and AI chatbot developers.
Fiverr will also be pushing their own in-house AI tools, like their logo maker and AI Auditions for voice-over artists.
The changes come in response to a reported 1,400% increase in searches for AI-related services in the past six months.
While not everyone is happy with this strategic direction, it's refreshing to see a company embracing AI.
The cherry on top, was that the marketing team used an AI chatbot to write the ad. Talk about going all in!
🔦 TWITCH STREAMER APOLOGIZES FOR WATCHING AI P*RN
On Monday, we speculated how AI could be coming for the adult content industry.
A few hours later, a Twitch streamer was caught watching AI-generated explicit content.
The streamer issued the teary apology after being exposed in an earlier stream.
Users had noticed a tab open that contained a deep fake porn video. To make matters worse, it was of two famous female Twitch streamers...yikes!
This is an all-around bad situation that is only likely to become more common.
As a reminder, we cover these stories to help drive conversations and get ahead of these problems.
